Aging and Youth Committee 06/02/09

The Senate Aging and Youth Committee met on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, and unanimously reported out the following bill as amended:

SB 651 - The legislation amends the Older Adults Protective services Act by making it so that the conviction of any offense involving serious physical harm on care dependent individuals may legitimately warrant a lifetime ban on employment in certain facilities.  The misuse of property or irresponsible behavior may legitimately warrant a ban on employment as well.  The bill also allows for an individual who would otherwise be precluded from employment by a facility to petition for a certificate of employability provided that at least ten years have passed since the individual’s conviction of any offense.  Amendment A01261 was offered which offered clarifying language.
