The Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs met on Tuesday,
January 26, 2010, and unanimously reported out the
following bills as amended:
SB 884 – The bill amends Act
43 of 1981 (Agricultural Security Law)
by
permanently
establishing
the Agricultural Land Conservation Assistance Grant
Program. Amendment 05345 was offered and it was
technical in nature.
SB 828 – The legislation amends Act 39 of 1945
(Public eating and Drinking Place Law) to allow
non-profit groups to sell food from an unapproved
source. Amendment A05457 was offered which offered
clarifying language.
The Committee unanimously reported out the following
bill as committed:
SR 215 – The resolution directs the Legislative
Budget and Finance Committee to study the costs to
achieve the Chesapeake Bay Program nutrient load
reductions required from this Commonwealth's
agricultural sources and to evaluate programs and
funding strategies that enhance cost-effective nutrient
reductions while protecting the economic viability of
this Commonwealth's agricultural sector.

The Senate Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee met on
Tuesday, June 9, 2009, and reported the following bills:
As Committed (unanimously):
Senate Resolution 132 (PN 1090)(Brubaker) This
resolution designates August 2009 as Pennsylvania
Produce Month.
Senate Bill 607 (PN 657)(Wozniak) This bill
amends the Rural Pennsylvania Revitalization Act adding
the University of Pittsburgh to the list of colleges and
universities eligible for grants and raising the maximum
grant amount.
Senate Bill 698 (PN 821)(Waugh) This bill
creates the Pennsylvania Farms to Fuels Initiatives Act
to encourage the production of bio-energy crops to be
used exclusively in producing cellulosic ethanol as
alternative fuel for motor vehicles.
As Amended (unanimously):
Senate Bill 298 (PN 1142)(Yaw) This bill amends
the Pennsylvania Farmland and Forest Land Assessment Act
to permit the extraction of natural gas without
triggering a breach of preferential assessment.
House Bill 39 (PN 2058)(Caltagirone) This bill
amends the animal cruelty provisions of the Crimes Code
by prohibiting dog owners from performing certain
surgical procedures on their dogs and granting authority
to dog wardens to enforce certain provisions in counties
lacking a court appointed humane society police officer.
