SB 214 PN 1734   This bill amends Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes prohibiting greyhound race simulcasting and prescribing a penalty.

As Committed

SR 255 PN 1717   This resolution designates the month of March 2010 as “Problem Gambling Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania and observes the week of March 7 through 13, 2010 as “National Problem Gambling Awareness Week.”

The Senate Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee met on Wednesday September 30, 2009 and reported the following bill to the Senate Floor by an 8-5 vote.

SB 1033, PN 1326           This bill amends Title 4 (Amusements) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes and the Gaming Act authorizing the Gaming Board to grant certificates to Category 1 and Category 2 licensed facilities to operate table games.

The Senate Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee met on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 and reported the following bill from committee by a 9-3 vote.

As Amended

SB 1088, PN 1399         This bill amends the declaration of exemption from federal laws with respect to the legal shipment of gambling devices, as defined in section 1 of the Gambling Devices Transportation Act into the Commonwealth.  Those devices registered, recorded and labeled by the manufacturer and supplier in accordance with the federal law shall be deemed legal shipments of gambling devices into the Commonwealth.

The Senate Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee met this morning and reported the following measures to the floor by a unanimous 14-0 vote.

As Committed

SR 58, PN 776 (Tomlinson) This resolution congratulates the Turning for Home program established by the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association at Philadelphia Park racetrack.  The program’s mission is to help trainers and owners who are based at Philadelphia Park to place their thoroughbred racehorses in safe, approved adoptive homes or retirement organizations at the conclusion of their racing days.

 

SB 711, PN 1196 (Earll–Mellow) This bill serves as a vehicle to enact into law a number of Omnibus reform amendments to Title 4 (Amusements) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes related to the Gaming Control Board and gaming in Pennsylvania.


 

Community and Economic Development Committee 04/20/09

The Senate Community, Economic, and Recreational Development Committee met on Monday, April 20, 2009 and reported the following bills to the Senate Floor as committed.

SB 200 (Earll)  This bill amends the Pennsylvania Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund Capital Budget Itemization Act of 2007, prohibiting the expenditure of funds for the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, a project authorized in the Act,  until such time that the two licensed gaming facilities in the city are operating and generating gross terminal revenues.  The bill was adopted by a 10-4 vote.

SB 655 (Logan)  This bill amends Title 4 (Amusements) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes by prohibiting lobbyists engaged in lobbying on behalf of an applicant or licensed gaming entity from contributing money, including in-kind contributions to candidates for political offices or to political parties in the Commonwealth. The bill was adopted unanimously by a 14-0 vote.

The Senate Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee met 2-3-09 and reported out the following:
