LOGAN REQUESTS AUDIT OF NORTH VERSAILLES
TOWNSHIP
|

Logan |
HARRISBURG,
June 29
–
State Sen. Sean Logan today sent a letter to
Auditor General Jack Wagner requesting an
audit of North Versailles Township’s
finances.
“North Versailles has been in a tough
financial situation lately,”
Logan (D-Allegheny/Westmoreland) said. “I
believe an audit of the township will help
them see what the problems are and the
residents deserve to know what is going on.”
Logan said that he has received
numerous calls from concerned township
residents who believe there are missing
funds. The residents say they have paid
their real estate taxes and fees for
services such as trash collection; however,
these payments were not forwarded to Waste
Management and other providers.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Below is a letter from Sen.
Logan to Auditor General Jack Wagner.
June 29, 2009
The Honorable Jack Wagner
Auditor General
229 Finance Building
Harrisburg, PA 17120-0018
Dear Jack:
As you may know, the Township of North
Versailles has suffered serious financial
setbacks in recent months. The municipality
has missed payrolls and has had trouble
paying service providers. Duquesne Light
threatened to shut off the electric service
to the municipal building. The township
also had trouble obtaining a tax
anticipation note this year.
I have received numerous calls from township
residents complaining about these issues.
They have paid their real estate taxes and
fees for services such as trash collection.
The payments, however, were not forwarded to
Waste Management and other providers. The
residents are concerned with their financial
situation and they believe there are missing
funds.
I am requesting, on behalf of the residents
of the Township of North Versailles, that
your office perform a complete audit of the
township finances. The residents deserve to
know what has happened to place the township
in such dire financial straits.
Thank you for your consideration to this
important matter.
Sincerely,
Sean Logan
State Senator
