TARTAGLIONE TO JOIN CITY YEAR VOLUNTEERS AT FRANKFORD EVENT

            PHILADELPHIA, May 1 - State Sen. Christine M. Tartaglione will join a volunteer crew expected to number more than 100 at Frankford Boys and Girls Club on Saturday to give the building a face lift.  City Year, a non-profit organization that unites a diverse group of young people for a year of full-time community service and leadership development, is organizing the event.

            City Year is partnering with the Frankford High School Student Board to paint four murals, two staircases, two bathrooms, and a classroom inside the building. Volunteers will also paint a four-square court and an alphabet snake on an outside play area.  Organizers are hoping that the event will create a collective memory among residents in Frankford and build bridges between area schools and the community.
