HARRISBURG,
January 26 –
In a Senate floor ceremony today, state Sens.
Mike Stack and Christine Tartaglione
presented Mayfair resident Sgt. Patrick
Hamill with a Senate citation and thanked
him for his service to our country and for
his courageous efforts to advance stability
in Iraq.
Hamill, 30, a member of the
56th Stryker Brigade of the Pennsylvania
Army National Guard,
completed three tours of duty in Iraq and
returned to his career at home as a state
trooper last month.
“We’re always so proud of our service men
and women, and Sergeant Hamill deserves to
be recognized for his bravery and
willingness to help keep the people of Iraq
safe and rebuild their nation,” Tartaglione
said. “I’m so glad he returned home safe
after each mission and I know I speak for
all Pennsylvanians when I express my
gratitude to this fine young man.”
Stack, who is a captain in the Pennsylvania
National Guard, said he is especially
honored to introduce a member of the armed
forces to the legislature.
“Sergeant Hamill is a true hero. He has made
tremendous sacrifices, not once, but three
times so that the people of Iraq may achieve
peace and stability in their country,” Stack
said. “He put his life on the line every
day, and plans to continue a similar
commitment in Pennsylvania as a state
trooper. He’s simply a remarkably selfless
individual.”
