WASHINGTON HONORED WITH PACESETTER AWARD

Washington

HARRISBURG, October 20 – State Senator LeAnna M. Washington (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) received the 2005 Pacesetter Award from the Women Legislatives’ Lobby (WiLL) during their annual convention held in Washington, D.C. recently.

“I am honored to have received such a prestigious award from an organization such as WiLL,” Washington said.  “This organization has a national reputation as a non partisan network of women state legislators on the local, state, and federal level.”

WiLL Pacesetters are recognized for their noteworthy legislative service, their contributions to sound, progressive policy, and their groundbreaking leadership in the states.

Washington was nominated for the award because she demonstrated a commitment to stand up for her beliefs in public policy and she believes women should have a place at the policy table.

WiLL focuses on issues such as reducing violence and directing the nation's federal spending priorities toward programs that address unmet needs.
