WASHINGTON NAMED TO CHILDREN’S TRUST FUND BOARD

Washington

HARRISBURG, August 2 – State Senator LeAnna M. Washington (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) has furthered her commitment to ensuring the wellbeing of Pennsylvania’s children by being named to the Pennsylvania Children’s Trust Fund (CTF) Board of Directors.

The CTF is dedicated to funding community-based programs to prevent child abuse and neglect.

“I am honored by this appointment,” Washington said. “Child abuse and neglect are two of the most horrendous crimes perpetrated against children.  I will work diligently to ensure that all Pennsylvania children are able to lead safe, happy lives.”

Washington was named, by the Pennsylvania Senate President Pro Tempore, to the Children ’s Trust Fund Board on July 27, 2005 after Senate Minority Leader, Robert J. Mellow, recommended her.  She also serves as the Democratic Chairwoman of the Senate Aging and Youth Committee.

The CTF was established in 1988 by the Children’s Trust Fund Act and is funded from a $10 surcharge on all applications for marriage licenses and divorce complaints.
