WASHINGTON INTRODUCES CARBON MONOXIDE LEGISLATION

Washington

HARRISBURG, August 24 – State Senator LeAnna M. Washington (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) announced that she has introduced legislation to protect families from the deadly threat of carbon monoxide in their homes.

“Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that can be a lethal threat,” Washington said. “I am hoping that this legislation will shed some light on this often overlooked danger.”

The legislation (Senate Bill 815) would require Carbon Monoxide detectors where people live, thus helping to protect families by providing advance warning of this deadly threat.

Approximately 500 people die each year in the United States as a result of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

This bill is currently in the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee.

“I hope that my colleagues see the deadly threat carbon monoxide is and passes this important legislation,” Washington said.
