WASHINGTON,
KITCHEN HOST “GO RED FOR WOMEN” HEALTH FAIR
|

Washington |
HARRISBURG, January 27
–To kick-off the “Go Red For Women” month,
State Sen. LeAnna Washington (D-Phila.)
is sponsoring a
Go Red For Women Health Fair
with Sen. Shirley Kitchen (D-Phila.) and
other colleagues at the State Capitol, in
conjunction with the American Heart
Association.
Washington said the goal of this Fair is to
help women, in particular, focus attention
on their health, as well as learn more about
the serious national problem of heart
disease.
“Heart disease is the number one killer of
women in America,” Washington said. “It is
time that all women heed the call and take
charge of their health.”
The fair will take place on Wednesday, Feb.
1 in the East Wing Rotunda from 10:00 am to
3:00 pm. Other health organizations
participating in the fair include: Hamilton
Health Center, American Cancer Society;
Diabetes Association; and Lupus
Association. Also participating is the
Commission for Women of PA.
“I urge all women to come and get
information on how they can protect
themselves from heart disease and lead
healthy lives,” Washington said. “Everyone
should to be sure to visit their doctor
regularly, learn their cholesterol and blood
pressure numbers, and take action to
safeguard their own and their family’s
health.”
Washington added that more women than men
die of heart disease in America. Less than
half of all women reported that their
doctors have discussed heart disease with
them.
“Go Red For Women” is the
American Heart Association’s national call
for women by women to take charge of their
health and live stronger, healthier lives.
Across America, the red dress and the color
red are becoming instantly recognized as the
symbols of women’s empowerment to improve
their heart health.
“Senator Kitchen and I are looking forward
to you joining us for an exciting day as we
paint the Capitol red on
Go Red For Women Day,” Washington
said. |
