WASHINGTON PRESENTS $100,000 GRANT TO CHILDSPACE

Washington

HARRISBURG, September 12 – State Senator LeAnna M. Washington (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) today presented a $100,000 check in state funds to Childspace Executive Director Yvonne Thompson-Friend to assist the organization’s mission of improving the quality of care for children from low to moderate-income families.

“Since 1995 Childspace has been integral in improving the quality of programs that serve children in early education and child care programs,” Washington said.  “ Through their outreach, advocacy, leadership development and training programs, professionals throughout the region have been helped immensely.”

Washington noted that Childspace has been instrumental in helping to stabilize early education and childcare businesses by improving their fiscal knowledge of the business.  “With this knowledge,” Washington added, “these programs acquire the skills necessary to compete competently.”

The $100,000 grant to Childspace will help childcare providers receive the support needed to help stabilize their business and improve their bottom line.

Childspace is a nonprofit agency located in the Germantown section of the city.
