HARRISBURG, November 1
– State Senator LeAnna M. Washington (D-Phila/Montgomery)
recently presented a $100,000 state grant to
the Hunter Soccer Club of Glenside to help
them build a clubhouse for some 1,000 youth
members.
“I am very pleased to be able to provide
these funds to the soccer club to build the
clubhouse,” Washington said. “The Hunter
Soccer Club is one of the oldest soccer
clubs serving the youth of the community
since 1962.”
The funds will help with the building of a
clubhouse with restroom facilities that can
accommodate those with physical
disabilities. The building project has been
a priority for the club for some time.
The soccer club is a non-profit corporation
run exclusively by volunteers. Membership is
the club is open to youth as young as 4
years of age up to seniors in high school.
“The infusion of state funds into this
project will help move it closer to
reality,” Washington said. “This kind of
project is a win-win for our children and
our community. I am proud to provide the
club with this support.” |
