WASHINGTON PRESENTS STATE GRANT TO HUNTER SOCCER CLUB

          HARRISBURG, November 1 – State Senator LeAnna M. Washington (D-Phila/Montgomery) recently presented a $100,000 state grant to the Hunter Soccer Club of Glenside to help them build a clubhouse for some 1,000 youth members.

          “I am very pleased to be able to provide these funds to the soccer club to build the clubhouse,” Washington said.  “The Hunter Soccer Club is one of the oldest soccer clubs serving the youth of the community since 1962.”

          The funds will help with the building of a clubhouse with restroom facilities that can accommodate those with physical disabilities. The building project has been a priority for the club for some time.

          The soccer club is a non-profit corporation run exclusively by volunteers. Membership is the club is open to youth as young as 4 years of age up to seniors in high school.

          “The infusion of state funds into this project will help move it closer to reality,” Washington said. “This kind of project is a win-win for our children and our community. I am proud to provide the club with this support.”
