PA CHILDREN’S TRUST FUND GRANT APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FEB. 15

Washington

HARRISBURG, February 12– State Sen. LeAnna Washington (D-Phila. /Montgomery) announced today that the Pennsylvania Children’s Trust Fund (CTF) Request for Proposal (RFP) Application will be available on Thursday, February 15.  The application is used for organizations to apply for grants from the Children's Trust Fund.

The CFT is dedicated to funding community-based programs to address the primary prevention of child abuse and neglect.

“Child abuse and neglect are two festering wounds in the body of our society,” Washington said.  “It is grant programs like this that bring us closer to healing these wounds and allowing our children to grow up in healthy, loving environments.”

The CTF issues RFP forms each year to community-based agencies and these agencies can request up to $150,000 over a 3-year period. New grantees are usually approved in June of each year.  Organizations interested in receiving an RFP should contact the Children's Trust Fund. Some agencies automatically receive the RFP application if they have applied in past years.  Once they receive the RFP application - they get more information.

Washington, a board member of the Children's Trust Fund Board and Democratic Chair of the Senate Aging and Youth Committee, said that applications will be available on CFT’s website at http://www.dpw.state.pa.us/CHILD/CHILDCARE/003670968.htm.  Constituent’s can also log onto www.seantorwashington.com for the application.

Those without Internet access are encouraged to contact Ms. Carrie Collins, CFT Program manager at 717-346-9330 or via email at ccollins@state.pa.us.

The deadline for submission is no later than 2 p.m. on April 17.

“I am urging officials of child abuse and neglect prevention programs throughout the community to apply today,” Washington said.  “It could be the lifesaver that so many children living in the nightmare of abuse and neglect need.”
