CHILDREN’S HEALTH INSURANCE MORE ACCESSIBLE,
MORE AFFORDABLE

Washington |
HARRISBURG, March 19
– State Sen. LeAnna Washington (D-Phila.
/Montgomery) announced today that more of
Pennsylvania’s children will have access to
quality health care insurance with the
recent expansion of Cover All Kids.
“This is a great day for Pennsylvania’s
children,” Washington said. “With the
recent federal approval, an expansion of
Pennsylvania's Children's Health Insurance
Program to cover more children was made
possible.”
Washington added that through Cover All
Kids, health insurance will be affordable to
more families by expanding income guidelines
so that more families can qualify.
Under
Cover All Kids, free health insurance is
available to children from families whose
household income is up to 200 percent of the
federal poverty level guidelines, which
means a family of four with a household
income of up to $41,300 now qualifies for
free health insurance coverage through CHIP.
Washington added that the CHIP expansion
offers affordable, comprehensive health care
coverage to any uninsured child and teen up
to age 19. It offers coverage for services
including doctors’ visits, hospital care,
prescription drugs, vision, dental and home
health care, as well as mental health and
substance abuse services.
