WASHINGTON REAPPOINTED TO PA CHILDREN’S TRUST FUND BOARD

Washington

HARRISBURG, June 21 – State Sen. LeAnna Washington (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) has been reappointed to the Pennsylvania Children’s Trust Fund (CTF) Board.

CTF is dedicated to funding community-based programs to prevent child abuse and neglect. It was established by the Children's Trust Fund Act in 1988.

“I am proud to once again serve on this important board,” said Washington. “Every child deserves to live in a safe, healthy and loving environment, and this position gives me the opportunity to help communities make that possible for our youth.”

The senator will serve on the CTF board until 2009. She was first appointed to the board in 2005.

As a board member, Washington distributes grants that are intended to develop innovative and creative child abuse and neglect prevention programs; specifically, primary prevention programs.

“By supporting prevention programs, organizations can educate parents while stopping the cycle of abuse and neglect that often plagues generations of families,” Washington said.
