WASHINGTON INVITES COMMUNITY TO 12TH ANNUAL WADSWORTH DAY

Washington

PHILADELPHIA, September 6 – State Senator LeAnna M. Washington (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) invites residents to participate in the 11th annual Wadsworth Day.

The festival, sponsored by Washington and Community Outreach 200, takes place on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the 1500 and 1600 blocks of Wadsworth Avenue, between Cheltenham and Michener avenues.

The event is free to the public. The rain date will be Sept. 16.

“Every year, the Wadsworth Festival brings the entire community together for a day of fun, so that’s why we’re celebrating ‘Restoring the Spirit of the Family’ as this year’s theme,” Washington said. “I encourage families and neighbors to come out and enjoy the day together.”

The event will include an array of activities, including free health screenings and community service awards, children’s rides, food vendors, entertainment and free refreshments. Patty Jackson of WDAS-FM will provide live coverage.

“Every year, this event draws so many people in the community, so I’m looking forward to yet another enjoyable Wadsworth Day,” Washington said.
