RED FOR WOMEN’ MONTH

Washington |
HARRISBURG, February 4
–
To kick-off “Go Red For Women” month in
Pennsylvania, state Sen. LeAnna Washington
(D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) joined the
American Heart Association to host the third
annual health fair today at the Capitol in
Harrisburg
in
an effort to make women more aware of the
risks of heart disease and stroke.
“Getting a health check-up is an important
step to preventing heart disease and
stroke,” Washington said. “This event is the
perfect opportunity to remind all women of
the dangers of heart disease, so I hope all
women make permanent lifestyle changes to
protect their hearts.”
Heart disease is the leading killer of
American women, according to the American
Heart Association.
“Heart disease can be prevented by making
easy, but significant lifestyle changes,”
Washington said. “Everyone
should to be sure to visit their doctor
regularly, learn their cholesterol and blood
pressure numbers, eat right, exercise and
take action to safeguard their health.”
“Go Red For Women” is the American Heart
Association’s national call for women by
women to take charge of their health and
live stronger, healthier lives.
Across America, the red dress and the color
red are becoming instantly recognized as the
symbols of women’s empowerment to improve
their heart health.
