WASHINGTON STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF CENSUS
PARTICIPATION

Washington |
HARRISBURG,
January 11
—
State Sen. LeAnna Washington
(D-Montgomery/Philadelphia) today urged
constituents to participate in the upcoming
U.S. Census and provided an informational
link on her Web site.
The informational census link
can be reached at
www.senatorwashington.com.
“Participation in this census is
essential to the amount of services and
representation that Pennsylvania will
receive throughout the next decade,”
Washington said. “The 2010 census is
shorter and easier than those in the past,
but it is just as important as it will
directly impact the amount of funding for
our schools, hospitals, road and bridge
construction, senior centers, and many other
things we take for granted.”
Washington said every household will receive
a census form to fill out, so it is
important that citizens fill it out
accurately and return it promptly. The
information is completely confidential and
used only for statistical purposes.
The link on Washington’s Web site details
how the census works, why it is important to
be counted, and how a citizen’s privacy is
protected.
Washington said the 10-question census is
scheduled to be mailed out in March.
