WASHINGTON COLLECTS SUPPLIES FOR HAITI
|

Washington |
HARRISBURG,
January 22
—
In an effort to assist the people of Haiti,
devastated by a recent earthquake, State
Sen. LeAnna Washington
(D-Montgomery/Philadelphia) and her district
office aides collected supplies to help the
millions of Haitians in need.
“The recent earthquake has
devastated the lives of many in Haiti and
Haitians throughout the world,” Washington
said. “Recovery from the destruction and
death this event has caused will take
years.
“So many of my constituents have recognized
the real, urgent need of those who survived
the earthquake, only to be left bereft of
family members, homes, and possessions that
have all perished. My constituents, staff
and I are happy to do what we can to assist
the victims of this great tragedy.”
Washington and her staff loaded the
collected supplies onto trucks recently at
her district office. The earthquake, which
struck January 12, has claimed the lives of
200,000 and has left approximately two
million people homeless.
