COSTA ANNOUNCES OVER $1.5 MILLION FUNDING FOR MT. OLIVER

Costa

HARRISBURG, April 15 - State Sen. Jay Costa (D-Allegheny) today announced a $750,000 state grant and $763,500 low-interest state loan to replace and repair sewer lines in Mt. Oliver Borough.

“This state funding will help Mt. Oliver Borough repair some of the hazardous sewer lines that have caused basement flooding and the downstream flow of untreated sewage and storm water,” Costa said.  “The funding will also ensure that there are no additional rate increases for the nearly 1,500 customers that this sewer system serves.”

The Borough of Mt. Oliver is served by the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority and is under an Environmental Protection Agency/Department of Environmental Protection Consent Order and Agreement to identify deteriorated sewers and repair sewers that are in the worst condition.

The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) will administer the funding.
