WEST CHESTER,
February 2
–
Senator Andy Dinniman announced today that
three municipalities in Chester County are
slated to receive a total of $860,242 in
Recycling Performance Grants.
“Recycling is one of the easiest ways to
improve our environment, reduce pollution
and conserve energy,” Dinniman said. “I
applaud these townships for their commitment
to recycling programs, and I know that these
grant funds will help maintain and expand
their efforts.”
The grants, which are based on the amount
recycled and the municipality’s population
for the 2008 calendar year, were awarded as
follows:
-
West Whiteland Township will receive
$542,811 for recycling 14,126.8 tons;
-
Tredyffrin Township will receive
$202,876 for recycling 6,311.2 tons; and
-
Uwchlan Township will receive $114,555
for recycling 3,580.1 tons.
The Department of Environmental Protection’s
(DEP) Recycling Performance Grant Program
provides incentives for communities to
increase recycling efforts and promote
economic growth. The grants come in addition
to funds that the DEP allocates annually to
establish and maintain municipal recycling
programs.
