WEST CHESTER,
February 17
–
State Senator Andy Dinniman announced today
that the Borough of West Chester was awarded
a $123,941 state grant for the construction
of a solar photovoltaic energy system on the
roof of a new parking garage.
“It’s great to see that the borough is
planning ahead to not only provide more
parking for residents, employees and
consumers, but also to conserve energy and
utilize renewable resources,” Dinniman said.
“Investing in these kinds of projects today
will leave West Chester and Pennsylvania
better prepared for tomorrow.”
The Commonwealth Financing Authority today
approved the grant under the Solar Energy
Program for the construction of a solar
photovoltaic energy system on the roof of a
proposed new parking garage at 14 East
Chestnut Street.
Funding for the project comes through the
Alternative Energy Investment Act (Act 1 of
2008), which allocated $650 million in
funding to support the research, development
and deployment of renewable energy projects
and technologies.
