HUGHES TO HOLD ANNUAL JOB FAIR

Hughes

PHILADELPHIA, May 11 State Sen. Vincent Hughes (D-Phila.) will hold his annual job fair May 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. Joseph’s University Field House in Philadelphia.

“To be employed and earn a salary that enables people to live and provide for their families is extremely important and the cornerstone of my work in Harrisburg,” Hughes said.  “This event is aimed at helping individuals in the community achieve their career goals.”

The 2007 Job Fair will feature several employers, including Verizon, Sunoco, SEPTA, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  In May 2003, Hughes hosted a job fair in which over 150 employers and 3,000 constituents participated.

“It is my hope and desire that we surpass the participation from the last job fair,” Hughes said.

To help job seekers learn important pre-employment techniques Hughes is also hosting a “Career Preparation Night” on Wednesday, May 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 4601 Market Street in Philadelphia.  Interested participants will be offered resume preparation services and a series of instructional workshops focused on interviewing and presentation skills.

Registration is required for Career Prep night. Constituents and employers are urged to contact Pat Wells in Hughes’ district office at 215-471-0490, ext. 16.
