KITCHEN HOSTS SENIOR HEALTHY LIVING EXPO

          PHILADELPHIA, May 2 – State Sen. Shirley Kitchen will host an informational event for Philadelphia seniors who want to learn more about their health care and living options on Friday, May 19, 2006 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the York House, located at 5325 Old York Road.

          “Part of the community that I represent in the state Senate, north central Philadelphia, has the largest population of Medicare participants in the city,” said Kitchen (D-Philadelphia). “That’s why I wanted to host this event. I hope that everyone will feel empowered and energized after the event so that we can all learn how to lead healthier, happier, and richer lives.”

          Popular WURD Radio Host Dr. Lucille Ijoy will appear as a special guest.  The event is being sponsored by Senior Partners, a Medicare plan that serves over 18,000 Philadelphia seniors.

          The following agencies are scheduled to participate:

  • PACE and PACENET, the state prescription drug plan;

  • Lawyer George Gossett, Jr.

  • Guardian Civic League

  • Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Philadelphia;

  • Philadelphia Corporation for Aging;

  • Fox Chase Cancer Center;

  • North Central Victim Services;

  • The York House, an exclusive apartment community for older Philadelphians.
