HARRISBURG, July 10 –
State Sen. Shirley M. Kitchen, state Rep.
Jewell Williams, and the
Deliverance Evangelistic Church will
host the 2006 Holistic Health Fair on
Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at
the corner of 21st Street and
Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia.
“Mind, body, and spirit are all connected,”
said Kitchen (D-Philadelphia). “To become
truly healthy, we must address each aspect.
At the Holistic Health Fair, we will come
together to educate ourselves and energize
our spirits.”
“This is a great
opportunity to learn more about the healing
power of nature,” said Williams
(D-Philadelphia). “Holistic health
approaches our well-being as a delicate
balance between mind and body and it could
be very beneficial to you.
Stop by and join your neighbors – whether
you are interested in learning more about
holistic health, or just want to take
advantage of the free health screenings and
entertainment.”
“As the Pastor of Deliverance Evangelistic
Church, I believe that the Lord requires us
to nurture both the physical and spiritual
man,” said Rev. Glen Spaulding. “In this
year’s health fair, we are focusing on
educating the community on the topic of
diseases that plague urban areas, with the
hope of bringing about prevention and
appropriate intervention. We expect that it
will allow the community to gain knowledge
and receive access to services that will
enable them to have a better quality of
life. We invite everyone to support and be a
part of this special event.”
The health fair will feature free screenings
for body mass index, blood pressure,
glucose, HbA1c, and lung function. In
addition, there will be gospel choirs, mime
performers, activities for children, free
food, and door prizes.
Keystone Hospice, the
Philadelphia Corporation for Aging,
Health Partners, and
AmeriChoice are sponsoring the event.
