HELP AVAILABLE FOR SENIOR CENTERS

- - State Sen. Shirley Kitchen today
applauded Governor Ed Rendell who announced
that $4 million worth of grants is now
available to help senior centers improve
facilities and services.
“Senior citizens in Pennsylvania
really deserve the help that Governor
Rendell has pledged,” Kitchen said. “These
seniors will benefit a great deal from the
improvements that will now be affordable to
these senior community centers around the
state.”
Grant applications will be accepted until
Sept. 22, 2006. Senior centers wishing to
apply can find additional information by
contacting the Department of Aging via Web
site,
www.aging.state.pa.us, or by phone at
717-783-6207. Information is also available
on the Pennsylvania Senior Centers’ Web
site,
www.paseniorcenters.org.
Grants awarded to senior centers will be
divided into two categories: capital
assistance projects and the capacity
building projects. Assistance projects will
receive up to $200,000, while building
projects will receive up to $10,000. |
