KITCHEN TO HOST FREE FLU SHOT CLINICS

          PHILADELPHIA, September 12 State Sen. Shirley M. Kitchen (D-Philadelphia) today announced that her district office on Lehigh Avenue will host free flu shot clinics on Monday mornings for the next four weeks.

          “Each year, 36,000 Americans die from the flu and more than 200,000 are hospitalized with complications it,” Kitchen said. “The flu can be a life and death issue for some citizens so I hope everyone takes this preventive step to stay healthy this winter.”

          Quality Community Health Care, a Philadelphia based non-profit, is partnering with Kitchen to bring flu shots to the people of North Philadelphia.

           The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recommended that certain patients receive their flu shots first. According to the guidelines, high-risk patients include nursing home residents, those older than 65, younger people with chronic illnesses such as diabetes and asthma, children between six months and two years, pregnant women and health workers.
