PHILADELPHIA, October 16 - For her leadership and accomplishments in her senatorial district, state Sen. Shirley Kitchen is one of three recipients of this year’s “Making A World Of Difference: One Household At A Time Award.”

Da-Network Housing, which provides housing workshops, seminars and counseling to help those in need of housing, presents this award to city leaders for their career achievements.

“I am truly honored to accept this award, and it reminds me that I can’t do my job without partnerships with organizations like Da-Network Housing,” said Kitchen (D-Philadelphia). “Da-Network Housing is an important resource in Philadelphia because it provides people with the tools they need to improve their quality of life.”

The award ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19 at McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant in Center City.

City Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell and Carl Greene, the executive director of the Philadelphia Housing Authority, are also being honored this year.

“Each of them is unique and special. They have built great legacies and their hand prints can be seen throughout the city of Philadelphia," said Danette James, CEO of Da-Network Housing.

Kitchen added, “As city leaders, we are obligated to represent our citizens and do everything we can to improve their quality of life. I will continue to fight for fair housing and access to reliable resources for my constituents.”
