Various organizations, including the Salvation Army, State Farm Insurance, Tastykake, Allegheny West Foundation, United Brotherhood Carpenter's Union, Vernon Owens, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, T&J Susquehanna Inc., Burlington Coat Factory, Sunoco and PECO, donated toys, candy, food and funds for the annual toy giveaway. Sen. Kitchen, personally, bought toys, hats and gloves for the families in her district.

"Most of us are looking forward to the holiday season, visiting with family and friends, opening up presents under the Christmas tree or on the first day of Kwanzaa," said Kitchen. "But unfortunately, there are children who are not looking forward to this holiday. Children whose families are not able to buy toys or clothes this year because of their financial situations. We want to make this a Merry Christmas and a Happy Kwanzaa for all children."
