PHILADELPHIA, April 9: State Sen. Shirley Kitchen is inviting the public to an upcoming healthcare workshop that includes free health screenings.

“Check for Life” will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at Steel Elementary School, 4301 Wayne Ave.

“This is a great opportunity for people to get a good evaluation of their health status,” Kitchen said.

Attendees can participate in free cholesterol screenings, diabetes screenings, Body Mass Index (BMI) screenings, blood pressure tests and stroke risk assessments.

“All of these tests are important measures of your health,” Kitchen said. “I encourage everyone to take advantage of these free health screenings.”

The event is hosted by Search Your Heart and co-sponsored by Kitchen and Evercare.

“[Evercare is] proud to work with Senator Kitchen to bring the ‘Search Your Heart’ event to Philadelphia,” said Evercare’s Renee Williams. ”This event will provide many with access to information and services that will help them live healthier and longer lives.”
