KITCHEN HOSTS THIRD SENATORIAL DISTRICT TEEN SUMMIT

          PHILADELPHIA, April 19: State Sen. Shirley Kitchen and Dreamfield Academy present the 1st Annual Third Senatorial District Teen Summit, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, at Walk Auditorium, Ritter Hall, Temple University, 1301 Cecil B. Moore Ave.

          The free event is open to all teens age 14 to 18 and includes a free lunch.

          “This Teen Summit offers numerous diverse sessions geared toward the interests of our youth as well as a forum for discussion,” Kitchen said. “I encourage all interested teens to attend so that they can learn something new and voice their opinions, and I look forward to hearing the voice of the future.”

          Teens will take part in numerous workshop sessions that focus on various topics, including the following:

  • Youth Entrepreneurship: Why Owning Your Own Business is Important;

  • Healthy Living: Teen Nutrition vs. Teen Obesity: What You Need to Know;

  • Responsible Living: Are You Really a “Snitch” for Reporting a Crime?;

  • Life After High School: College Life: All Fun or All Work? What You Need to Know;

  • Growing Up in the Hood: So You Want to Be a Gang Banger? Former gang members share their stories;

  • Speak Out. What are the challenges you face? What support do you need in order to be a success? Can you really make a difference? Find your voice and speak your mind in this special session.
