SENATORS KITCHEN AND ORIE TO HOLD EQUAL PAY DAY RALLY

WHAT:      2007 Pennsylvania Equal Pay Day Rally and Press Conference

                Harrisburg, PA

DETAILS:  State Sen. Shirley M. Kitchen (D-Philadelphia) will be joined by State Sen. Jane Orie (R-Allegheny) and a number of other legislators, as well as prominent statewide women’s organizations in hosting the 2007 Pennsylvania Equal Pay Day Rally and press conference. 

                 The rally and press conference are being organized to draw attention to the persistent gap in wages between men and women and to show support for national efforts to close the wage gap.

                Kitchen said studies have shown that women doing equal amounts of work do not receive the same amount of salary and wages as men. 

                Senator Kitchen welcomes and encourages media participation.
