PHILADELPHIA, August 3 – Philadelphia will soon receive state funding to improve waste management in the city, according to state Sen. Shirley Kitchen.

The $120,000 grant will be used to reimburse up to 80 percent of the costs to revise the city’s solid waste management plan.

“I am pleased that the city and state are working together to keep Philadelphia up to date with its waste management,” Kitchen said. “Together, the city and state can help Philadelphia function properly for our citizens.”

The funding was administered by the Department of Environmental Protection’s County Planning Grant Program.
