KITCHEN ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR LOCAL ARTS

PHILADELPHIA, August 20 – Local arts
programs across the City of Philadelphia
recently received state funding, according
to state Sen. Shirley Kitchen.
“Philadelphia is a vibrant city that
embraces the arts,” Kitchen said. “I’m proud
that we have so many arts organization in
our community, and I’m pleased that they are
receiving this support to ensure that they
thrive.”
The 186 grants, totaling more than $4.7
million in funding, went to numerous
organizations to support their ongoing
efforts to promote and maintain the arts in
their community.
The grants went to the following local
programs:

Arts Sanctuary, at 1801 W. Diamond St.,
received $13,500.

Center for Intergenerational Learning,
at Temple University, 1601 N. Broad St.,
received $6,200 for Full Circle Theatre.

Center in the Park, at 5818 Germantown
Ave., received $6,200 for the support of
its arts programs.

International Ballet Exchange, at 38 E.
Schoolhouse Lane, received $3,600.

Kulu Mele African-American Dance
Ensemble, Inc., at 6417 N. 13th
St., received $20,000 for first-year
Strategies for Success Advance level for
the fifth year artistic director staff
position, programming costs and
consultant fees for financial management
and development.

New Freedom Theatre, Inc., at 1346 N.
Broad St., received $51,000.

Peregrine Arts, Inc., at 2920 Cambridge
St., received $4,600.
-
Temple University, at 1509 Cecil B.
Moore Ave., received $9,000 for the
support of Public Radio-WRTI.

Village of Arts and Humanities, at 2544
Germantown Ave., received $29,000.
