PHILADELPHIA, September 14 – State Sen. Shirley Kitchen invites young Philadelphians ages 18 and older who are not registered to vote to participate in an upcoming Youth Voter Registration Drive.

The event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the senator’s district office, located at 1701 W. Lehigh Ave.

“The ability to vote is a fundamental right for Americans, and empowers us to make change,” Kitchen said. “It’s an awesome power that I encourage our young people to be a part of.

“I’m excited to bring this voter registration drive to the community, and I invite young people to make the great decision to be a registered voter,” she said.

The Young Voter Registration Drive will feature guest speakers, music, vendors, food and, most importantly, an opportunity to register to vote.

“Voters who register at the event will have the opportunity to vote for the next mayor of Philadelphia in November and the presidential election next year,” Kitchen said. “It’s an exciting time to register.”
