PHILADELPHIA, September 28 -
State Sen. Shirley Kitchen and Raquel
McNabb, wife of Philadelphia Eagles
quarterback Donovan McNabb, will be hosting
the upcoming Philadelphia Community Baby
Shower, a free event for all expectant and
new mothers.
The baby shower event takes
place on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3
p.m. at Temple Children’s Medical Center,
3509 N. Broad St. (Broad and Tioga streets).
Registration opens at 11 a.m. and the
Welcome Session begins at 11:45 a.m.
“Motherhood is a joyous
experience, and this baby shower celebrates
all expectant and new moms,” Kitchen said.
“This is also a wonderful opportunity to
give mothers in our community the support
they need to help them raise a happy and
healthy family.”
“I want the Philadelphia Community Baby
Shower
to connect new mothers and expecting mothers
with information related to health care,
such as insurance information, pediatrics,
OB/Gyn, dietary, and social resources, that
will enable parent and the child to live a
healthy lifestyle,” said McNabb, who, along
with husband Donovan, are parents to a
3-year-old daughter.
Learn about health care coverage, financial
counseling, breast-feeding basics,
childbirth, nutrition, pediatric and
post-partum care, and visit with numerous
organizations who will offer helpful advice
and information.
The event also includes free lunch,
refreshments, giveaways and raffles for
special prizes.
The Philadelphia Community Baby Shower is
sponsored by Temple University Health
System, McNabb Foundation, Babies R Us, and
Da-Network Housing.
“The Temple University Health System is
committed to providing quality obstetrical
care and access to pediatric care to North
Philadelphia and its surrounding
neighborhoods,” said Howard Grant, Chief
Medical Officer for the Temple University
Health System. “We are honored to work with
Senator Kitchen and Mrs. McNabb to bring you
this important event connecting new and
expecting mothers with the healthcare and
social services needed to help moms and
their children lead healthy lifestyles.”
