PHILADELPHIA, January 23 - Residents can gain a basic understanding of the best and most cost-effective ways to reduce their energy usage at an upcoming Energy Conservation Workshop sponsored by state Sen. Shirley Kitchen.

“Homeowners can take some simple steps to keep out the cold and keep their energy bills down this winter,” Kitchen said. “I encourage everyone to come to this upcoming workshop and get valuable cost-cutting advice.”

The Energy Conservation Workshop will take place on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. at The Yorkhouse, located at 5325 Old York Road. The event is free and open to the public.

Attendees will learn how to seal their home through tips on using plastic storm windows, weather stripping and V-seal. Learn how to use a caulk gun and how to install foam insulation, rope caulk and automatic clock thermostats. Free weatherization materials will be offered.

The senator will also host more workshops in February. Visit the senator’s Web site at www.senatorkitchen.com or call the district office at 215-227-6161 for more information on dates and locations.
