HARRISBURG, May 28 – State Senator Shirley Kitchen today said the Pennsylvania Senate’s complete Legislative Journals dating back to 1993 are now available online.

A link to the Senate journals can be found at Kitchen’s web site: www.senatorkitchen.com

She said the journals from 1993 to 2004 were added to the online collection that already offers the Senate’s Legislative Journals from 2005 to the present.

“I am pleased that we now have an expanded record of Senate floor actions open and available to the public,” Kitchen said.

“In the spirit of the state’s new open records law, this information will add a greater historical perspective and help citizens become more informed and active participants in our Democratic system.”

The Legislative Journals include complete transcripts of floor actions on legislation, resolutions, Senate voting results, guests, announcements and more. The journals include both regular sessions and special sessions of the Pennsylvania Senate.

Kitchen said the Senate has taken great strides to give the public greater access in recent months. A live video feed of all Senate sessions, roll call votes from the senate floor, voting results of bills and resolutions, and the text of all amendments offered on the Senate floor have all been added to the Senate’s official website.

Kitchen said she will work to make even more Senate journals accessible on the Internet. The journals from 1802 to 1993 are currently available in the Senate Library.
