PHILADELPHIA,
October 16
—
State Sen. Shirley M. Kitchen is teaming up
with her colleague state Sen. Christina
Tartaglione and NFL Moms Tackling Hunger
with Chunky Soup Program to participate in
their upcoming food drive.
NFL Moms Tackling Hunger with Chunky Soup
Program will take place on Tuesday, Oct.
28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
Community Academy of Philadelphia Charter
School, located at 1100 E. Erie Ave.
The group is accepting canned or
non-perishable boxed or packaged food items.
“I’m proud to be a part of this campaign and
I encourage Philadelphians to open their
hearts — and their cupboards — to donate
items to this food drive,” Kitchen said.
“Together, we can ensure that our families
don’t go hungry.”
NFL Moms Tackling Hunger with Chunky Soup
Program, a new program in which mothers in
the Football Players Mothers’ Association
and Campbell’s are working to raise food
donations for their local communities, to
help raise awareness for hunger relief and
“tackle hunger” nationwide. Philadelphian
Linda Harrison, the mother of Indianapolis
Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison, is the
program coordinator.
“Philadelphia is proud of its native son
Marvin Harrison’s accomplishments on the
field, and we’re just as blessed to have his
mother Linda as a community activist,”
Kitchen said. “She recognizes that so many
families struggle to put food on the table
and she’s fighting hunger right here in
Philadelphia.
“I want to thank her and all the NFL moms
who are working across the country to give
families the nourishment they need,” Kitchen
said. “I’ll be bringing food that day, and I
encourage all Philadelphians and the
Philadelphia Senate Delegation to help Linda
Harrison and the NFL Moms tackle hunger.” |
