KITCHEN INVITES PUBLIC TO ENERGY CONSERVATION WORKSHOP THURSDAY

            PHILADELPHIA, January 13 Residents can gain a basic understanding of the best and most cost-effective ways to reduce their energy usage at this week’s Energy Conservation Workshop, sponsored by state Sen. Shirley Kitchen and the Energy Coordinating Agency.

             The workshop, which is free and open to the public, will take place this Thursday, Jan. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lenfest PAL Center, located at 3890 N. 10th St. (10th and Pike streets).

             “More people are conscious about saving their money and cutting costs these days, and there are many ways that individuals can maintain or lower their heating bills without sacrificing the comfort of warmth,” Kitchen said. “This workshop will teach homeowners simple and inexpensive tips to keep the cold out while keeping the utility bills in check.”

            Attendees will learn how to seal their home through tips on using plastic storm windows, weather stripping and V-seal. Learn how to use a caulk gun and how to install foam insulation, rope caulk and automatic clock thermostats. Free weatherization materials will be offered.
