Also that day at 10:30 a.m., the Senator will recognize eight police officers for their efforts to stop a violent incident last year. In August 2008, the officers intervened in a shooting incident involving several young men. The officers’ actions undoubtedly saved the lives of individuals attending a reunion at a nearby playground, including the senator, who was standing just 25 feet from the shooting.

The senator credits Lt. Thomas McLean, Sgt. Eric Gripp and Officers Phillip Sprague, Christopher Dougherty, Michael Vargas, Dominic Mathis, Ryan Sullivan and Joseph Inamorato for protecting her and reunion attendees from harm.

Media coverage is welcomed and encouraged.
