PHILADELPHIA, September 15 —
State Sen. Shirley Kitchen and City
Councilman William Greenlee invite the
community to attend a free upcoming
“Improving Your Financial Life” seminar.
The event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 26
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Temple University
Health System Corporate Headquarters, 2450
W. Hunting Park Ave.
“This is an opportunity for individuals of
all backgrounds, regardless of their current
financial state, to get informed about being
financially responsible,” Kitchen said.
“Just because our economy is unstable,
doesn’t mean families can’t take simple
steps to take charge of their finances. I
welcome everyone in the community to attend
this informative seminar.”
Participants will learn about the benefits
of maintaining good credit and receive
useful information on judgments, bankruptcy,
lending, credit scores, savings,
investments, avoiding predatory lending,
mortgages, becoming a first-time homebuyer,
and more from industry professionals and
city and state agencies.
Coleen Peters, the business development
officer for the Pennsylvania Housing Finance
Agency, will be the guest speaker. Consumer
Advocate and Attorney Robert P. Cocco will
conduct an in-depth lecture on illegal
practices in debt collection and predatory
lending, and what you can do to protect
yourself.
“Particularly in these difficult economic
times, it is important that we as elected
officials provide as much assistance and
direction as possible to our constituents,”
Greenlee said.
