MUSTO ANNOUNCES FUNDS FOR FREELAND STORM WATER PROJECT

Musto

PITTSTON, April 15 - State Sen. Ray Musto (D-14; Luzerne, Carbon, Monroe) today announced a low-interest state loan totaling over $651,000 for the Borough of Freeland to prevent flooding and erosion.

“I am pleased that state dollars will be used to improve the storm water system in Freeland,“ Musto said.  “Once completed, we will reduce yard pollutants in our streams and the necessity to repair our streets so often.”

Musto said the funds will be used for about 3,000 feet of piping, 15 inlets, two manholes and other storm water improvements to stop residential flooding and the erosion of street pavement.

The PENNVEST Board approved the funding at its meeting. Musto has served on the PENNVEST board since 1988.
