DETAILS:         This Presidents Day, 14 local students will be honored at ceremonial breakfast for their award-winning posters and public speaking presentations in “State Sen. Mike Stack’s Presidential Idol Arts Contest.” One winner from each grade was selected, from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Hundreds of students across the senator’s district participated in the contest, in which students in grades K-8 created a poster depicting their “Presidential Idol,” a theme based on the popular TV singing competition “American Idol.” High school students were invited to give a 2-minute presentation on the presidency. Each grade level was assigned a specific topic to speak on.

Media participation is welcomed and encouraged.
