HARRISBURG, June 17

advocacy efforts on behalf of seniors,
children and families in Pennsylvania’s 4th
Senatorial District.
Washington, a six-term Democratic State

opponent Ron Holt in a special election to
fill the vacancy left by former Senator
Allyson Schwartz who was elected to
Congress. Washington will serve one year of
the remaining term.
Washington told well wishers gathered at the
Capital ceremony that her main priority
would be to focus on improving the quality
of life for all the citizens of the 4th
Senatorial District. Washington added that
she is “energized by the over-whelming
support” she received in the election and is
committed to working with all segments of
the community.
A passionate advocate for children
and families, Washington said some of her
top priorities would include working to
prevent domestic violence, improving student
achievement in the schools, ensuring
affordable healthcare for employers and
workers, creation of new jobs, and bringing
new investment dollars to Southeast
Pennsylvania.
“I am committed to working with
all segments of the community,” Washington
said. “I want our community to be a safe
place to live, work and raise children.”
Washington added that she supports
legislation that will curb gun violence in
the streets. Washington said she is also
committed to working to improve the local
economy. “I am asking all of the
constituents of the 4th
Senatorial district to join me in this
effort.”
