HARRISBURG, April 15 -
State Sen. John N. Wozniak announced today
that two Cambria County water projects have
been approved for a combined $4.8 million in
state financing.
“Clean drinking water and clean streams are
a priority of mine,” Wozniak said. “By
investing in local projects, we are
investing in our future.”
The two projects will receive low-interest
loans through the Pennsylvania
Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVEST).
The projects are:
·
Jackson Township Wastewater Extension -
Installation of 41,500 feet of sanitary
sewers along with two pump stations and
2,500 feet of force main to serve Brazil
Lane and the Adams Street/Leidy Lane areas
of the township. The project is necessary to
protect the environment from malfunctioning
on-lot septic systems. The project will
receive a $3.4 million PennVEST loan at one
percent interest, and a $632,000 grant.
·
Cresson Township Water System Improvements -
Construction of a new, 750,000 gallon water
storage tank and 11,000 feet of new
transmission line. The current system has
had pressure problems that created
inadequate supply for fire protection. The
project will receive an $800,000 PennVEST
loan.
“Pennsylvanias smaller communities can be
overwhelmed by the cost of replacing aging
infrastructure,” Wozniak said. “This
important program helps keep local taxes
stable, while improving public health and
safety.” |
