WOZNIAK ANNOUNCES $4.9 MILLION GRANT FOR PHILIPSBURG

Wozniak

HARRISBURG, April 15 - State Sen. John N. Wozniak announced today that Philipsburg will receive a $4.9 million grant and a $6 million loan to fix its sewer system and protect local streams.

“Clean drinking water and clean streams are a priority of mine,” Wozniak said. “By investing in local projects, we are investing in our future.”

The Philipsburg project will not just benefit the environment, but also the local economy by allowing the Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership to better market its business park, Wozniak said.

The project includes installation of more than 38,000 feet of sanitary sewer main, sewer laterals and manholes.  It is intended to eliminate the periodic discharge of raw sewage into Cold Stream and Moshannon creeks.

The loan and grant will cover the entire $10,974,137 cost of the project.

“Pennsylvania’s smaller communities can be overwhelmed by the cost of replacing aging infrastructure,” Wozniak said. “This important program helps keep local taxes stable, while improving public health and safety.”
