HARRISBURG,
February 2
–
State Sen. John N. Wozniak today applauded
local officials for their environmental
efforts and announced a pair of grants to
reimburse Clinton County for its household
hazardous waste program.
“The safe disposal of household
chemicals is an important part of protecting
the environment and local health,” Wozniak
said. “Clinton County residents have stepped
up to promote proper handling of these
chemicals and their efforts will pay
dividends for future generations.”
The Clinton County Solid Waste
Authority was awarded a pair of grants
totaling nearly $16,000 for conducting
household hazardous waste collection events
in May and August last year.
The events were the fourth and
fifth at the Wayne Township Landfill
Recycling Center, and the August event drew
more than 100 participating households and
nearly 7,000 pounds of hazardous waste.
The grants were issued by the
state Department of Environmental
Protection’s Household Hazardous Waste
Program.
