WOZNIAK APPLAUDS JOHNSTOWN RECYCLING EFFORTS
|

Wozniak |
HARRISBURG,
February 2
–
State Sen. John N. Wozniak today applauded
local officials for their recycling efforts
and announced a grant to reimburse Johnstown
for recycling expenses.
“Local government effort is key
to preserving the environment and reducing
landfill waste,” Wozniak said. “Johnstown
officials are doing their part to preserve a
cleaner, healthier future for our children.”
The City of Johnstown has been
awarded an $11,455 grant for recycling more
than 1,200 tons of waste in 2008. The
Recycling Performance Grant was released by
the state Department of Environmental
Protection this week as part of the state’s
effort to help Pennsylvania communities
increase the amount of materials recovered
through recycling and promote economic
growth through job creation and market
expansion.
The grant is in addition to the
funds that the DEP allocates to
municipalities to establish and maintain
recycling programs.
