TARTAGLIONE ORGANIZING BLOOD DRIVE

HARRISBURG, May 5, 2004 – Due to what health officials describe as a “constant shortage,” state Sen. Christine M. Tartaglione announced today that she is organizing a blood drive in her district.

On Friday, May 21 Tartaglione and the American Red Cross will hold the blood drive from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the St. James Church, Pratt Street and Castor Avenue, in Philadelphia.

“When doctors are forced to reschedule surgeries or have to make life or death decisions on who has the most critical need for blood, we need to take action,” Tartaglione said.

The American Red Cross reports that supplies for all blood types are low and replenishment is desperately needed.

“It doesn’t take much to give, yet it is the most generous gift you can imagine,” Tartaglione said. “I am hoping the wonderful people of my district will get the message and take a few minutes to share with the community.”
